We are into this by 5-6 weeks now. Which is probably only half way at this point. It seems like its been 3 months. Truly. Time passes much slower when we are making up our schedule as we go along basically.
Ryan works from home every once in awhile--once or twice a week. He sometimes has sub-par connection which isnt good. THey just officially cancelled school for teh state for the remainder fo the year so kids will have spent the last 3 to 3.5 months at home doing school virtually by end of the school year.
Friday, I think Ryan and I both were feeling like we were in a pressure cooker and needing to let out steam in a positive way. As soon as Ryan showed up we left on our bikes and rode from our house up to the base of Big Cottonwood canyon on trails. Its a pretty long hard, almost all up hill ride. When we got there we laid on my jacket on the grass and just laid listening to the river and the birds and talking a little while we stretched too. The sun was mostly setting by then so we got back on and just sailed home. It is such a fun ride home. You barely pedal for miles. When we got home we parked the bikes and left in Ryans car to go find something to eat (we landed on Zao--most things were closed by then since it was almost 9) and we had to wait in a parking stall and they brought us our food. THen we stopped at Maverick and got some drinks and sat there in their parking lot and ate and listened to Ryan's new Spotify list he's been putting together (and also our Haynie family Covid-19 playlist--its so random and good!).
Saturday morning we all slowly got out of bed. Even Luke didnt wake up till 8:30. And we all kind of dragged around, talking about doing scripture study, and running and weeding and not really getting started. Finally Ryan and I started weeding outside , the boys got their jobs done and then around 2:00ish, Ryan, Aub, Robbie and I left to go on a 4 mile run since the sun was shining. When we got back we got everyone moving toward a family bike ride/dinner. EVERYONE REALLY NEEDED SOME NEW SCENERY (maybe without really even realizing it). It took a long time to get Luke's seat switched and bikes loaded, but we left around 3:30-4:00. Robbie and I rode our bikes up to the park by Ryan's old work since we couldn't fit all 7 bikes. Ryan stopped to get chips and drinks. We met at that park, got all the bikes out and then we rode to Jimmy Johns about 1/2 mile away and by then we were all starving not having had lunch. It was so fun to eat and talk and it was sunny and we were out of the house:)
We kept riding up the canyon and thought we'd stop but everyone just wanted to keep riding (except Hallie--there's always someone--but she did fine and kept going). We made it all the way back up to the top of BC Canyon again. and then the fun ride down. We all just loved it. Minus Ryan who stayed with Clara and she hadn't had to use her brakes like that before and she cried a lot of the way down. We played at the park for a while waiting for Ryan and Clara and the boys turned the water features into a skate park. Today Aubrie and Robbie told us they were so grateful we went and that it was so much fun to do that as a family and very unifying (which was a little shocking--but there has been so much good for our family that has come from being home so much together). We stopped and got frostys on the way home and slowly showered and got in bed. Today Ryan had to go do tithing and then ward council (virtually) and then we had sacrament meeting at 11:30 (Kat has been coming over too). Robbie and Kat gave talks; about prayer and enduring to the end. VERY good! I have loved our meetings soooo much! We did a combined Sunday School this week and I taught the lesson (well it was a group effort) about Mosiah 3:19 basically. The "recipe" to turn ourselves from a natural man to a saint. It was one of those good days that are few and far between. It was such a good discussion.
We took a short nap, made dinner, and then watched a Hank Smith live digital fireside. It was a good one. Then we had a Jensen family Zoom meeting where we got to hear all about Jay and Kayla getting engaged. They went from "taking a break" to being engaged pretty quickly. I am so excited for them. We all are. June 20th in Draper temple unless temples have not reopened by then. And then they'll see from there.
