2017: First Half Catch-Up
I haven't posted in a long time and we have a lot of pictures and family happenings to catch up on and to fill in more to what Amber has posted thus far. We have loved (especially our kids) the tradition of printing these blog posts off in a book so I've been feeling the need to upload everything and get caught up for awhile...so, here is a recap going in reverse order from today (Father's Day, June 18th) back to the beginning of the year...

So much happens in such a short timeframe
I can't keep up. And moments that define time marching on (like the end of a school year) make me feel like I want to capture all day everyday because I will miss so much about our life right now in 20 years.
We are at such a busy very fun and active time of life. Aubrie just finished 7th grade and will be 13 this summer, an official teenager. Robbie just finished 5th grade and will be 11 this summer. Hallie finished 3rd grade and just turned 9. Blake just finished kindergarten (oh man!!) and turned 6. Clara is 3.
I can't even express to Ryan adequately HOW. MUCH. I . LOVE our school. I feel like we won the lottery. I like it way more than I even did at the beginning of the year. I have really bought in to the way that they build a community and build CHILDREN and help them be curious, and well rounded and have so many different experiences, to be kind and ask lots of questions, engage in learning, etc.
The last few weeks have been so full with lots of fun things.
Aubrie went canoeing up in Cache Valley for the day with her class, they've helped multiple days with the farm the school bought across the street, they've had a cast party from the play they did (which was SO well done), the school really pushes the older grades helping the younger grades out, so there is a strong sense of togetherness and 7th grade has helped a lot with 3rd and 1st grades field days, reading times, etc. , they've had ecology block and her teacher Mr. Morris is an ecologist and has taken full advantage taking them places and showing them all kinds of cool things. Aubrie and one of her best friends Cora planned a class end of the year party that is tonight and I am so glad for all the 7th graders--they are all such good friends with each other.
Robbie got to do the UNI Univ of Utah ropes course which is like 50 feet in the air, they've done some serious recess kickball games/capture the flag, they went swimming across the street at the rec center, he finished knitting his socks (and says he loves knitting--what!?!), alot of the boys in the class signed up to run the Spartan race this summer together since they studied Sparta and other ancient civilizations this year--Mr. Mack is running the adult version the same day so they are all team Mack's minions, they got to go see a play downtown, field trip to Wheeler Farm and every week they have had something called Social Circle and a mom of one of the kids thats a counselor has come in and run it. They've talked about lots of different things and its a safe place to discuss things they want or need to and so many other things I can't even remember right now.
Hallie had her farming block toward the end of the year so they raised chicks, helped out multiple days at the farm across the street, went to Wheeler Farm, swam at Holladay lions, had her field day, went to a construction site to learn how it works start to finish, had the end of year assembly where they performed Eurythmy, and she's just loved all her class pets, etc.
Blake's teacher, Mrs. Jo is seriously Mary Poppins. She is like magic. She has created this fairy tale land in their class--it even looks like it. Blake told me the other day that every day all year they always have a "rest" time and they all lay in a circle and then Ms. Betty (she is the assistant) would massage their feet while they laid there for a few minutes, they have gone to Wheeler Farm, had a pet party in their class, read countless fairy tales over and over, made the coolest puppets out of wool, felt, sticks, used blessing bowls where everyone gives them wishes in it for their birthdays (its a Waldorf tradition to have everyone get in a circle and give you a "blessing or a wish" for your birthday and they light a candle for each year you've been on the earth. And they make a book of wishes that you get in the circle to take home too.

| Jaxon's mom that does social circle, made these necklaces for everyone in Robbie's class--they say "Aspen United". Robbie's class is the Aspen class. Each class in the school has a name, Blake's is the SunGarden, Aubrie's is Bristlecone, and Hallie's is Juniper Class |
